Thomas Park was born on 24th November 1909 at 8h 30m am, at Comely Park, Strathaven. The informant on 9th December 1909 was the child’s father, Thomas Park, a commercial traveller.

Thomas Park, a wholesale provision merchant, Lieutenant in the 54th (Q.O.R.G.S.) Anti-Tank Regiment,
Royal Artillery, Bachelor, aged 29, married Eva Gordon Baird, spinster,
24, on 8th September 1939 at Westquarter, Glassford, After Banns according to the Forms of the Church of
Scotland. His usual residence was Comely Bank, Strathaven. Hers was Westquarter, Glassford. The Register was signed by James Baillie, Minister of the Church
of Scotland, East Church, Strathaven, and by witnesses Gavin Wilson Park, Comely Bank, Strathaven, and Clare
Courtier Stuart Brown, Cathlaw, Bathgate, West Lothian.
The late Elizabeth Frances Stuart Brown recalled the wedding, of which a film has been preserved, as a glamorous
occasion, transmitting the detail that Thomas was married in military uniform and left for the front immediately
after the ceremony; World War II had broken out just five days previously.
Thomas Park, provision merchant (retired), married to Viva Gordon Baird, died on 3rd September 1991, at
Rozelle Holm Nursing Home, Ayr. He was 81 years of age. His usual residence was 7, Shieling Park, Racecourse Road,
Ayr. The causes of death were registered as generalised arteriosclerosis, hypertension and chronic bronchitis.

Thomas Park had a brother, R. (presumably Robert) Wilson Park, of 78, Kirk Street, Strathaven, who acted as
informant on the 1949 death certificate of their father, Thomas Park. He also performed the same office on the
1961 death certificate of their mother, Jessie Brown Park MS Wilson.
Gavin Wilson Park, who acted as a witness to the marriage of Thomas Park and Eva Gordon Baird in 1939, was
presumably also a brother.
