Robert Wilson died on 14th March 1855 at Parkhead, Kype, Avondale. He was 69 years of age and married to
Janet Brown. The cause of death was certified by Andrew Brown, physician,
who saw the deceased on 11th March 1855. He was interred in the Burial Ground of Strathaven, as certified
by Andrew McLuckie, Sexton. The informant on 20th March 1855 at Strathaven was Gavin Wilson, the
deceased’s son.
Robert Wilson was recalled as a farmer (deceased) when his son, also
Robert Wilson, married
Christina McColl in
1859 and again when Robert junior died in 1885.
On the evidence of his 1855 death certificate, Robert Wilson was born c. 1785 at East Dykes, Avondale. According to
the same source, he lived in Avondale for the greater part of his life.
