Thomas Park

15th October 1870 - 27th October 1949

Thomas Park was born on 15th October 1870 at ten in the evening at Barn Street, Strathaven. The informant was the child’s father, John Park, who was entered as present.

Thomas Park, traveller for a provision merchant (bachelor), 26, married Jessie B. Wilson on 25th June 1897, at 30, Commercial Road, Strathaven, After Banns according to Forms of the United Presbyterian Church. Thomas was usually resident at Ballgreen, Strathaven. The marriage certificate was signed by Alex. W. Donaldson, Minister of the East U. P. Church, Strathaven, and by Jeanie Wilson and James S. Park, witnesses.

At the time of his son Thomas’s birth in 1909, Thomas Park was a commercial traveller. The birth certificate, on which Thomas senior acted as informant, reiterates the date and locus of his marriage to Jessie Wilson on 25th June 1897 at Strathaven.

At the time of his son Thomas’s marriage in 1939, Thomas Park senior was a wholesale provision merchant.

Thomas Park, wholesale provision merchant, married to Jessie Brown Wilson, died on 27th October 1949 at 0h 35m pm, at Comely Bank, 35, Lethame Road, Strathaven. He was 79 years of age. The causes of death were certified as senile myocarditis and hypostatic pneumonia. The informant, on the same day, was the deceased’s son, R. Wilson Park, of 78, Kirk Street, Strathaven.

At the time of his son Thomas’s death in 1991, Thomas senior was recalled as a provision merchant.

Brother

Thomas Park had a brother, James S. (presumably Struthers) Park, who acted as informant on the 1916 death certificate of their father, John Park, and on the 1924 death certificate of their mother, Jeanie Park MS Struthers. It is presumed that this is the same James S. Park who had acted as a witness when Thomas married Jessie Brown Wilson in 1897.
