Janet Wiseman |
6th October 1805 - 8th May 1841 |
Janet Wiseman was the first of the three wives of Hugh McColl.
The youngest of Janet’s children, James McColl, was born on 17th April 1841. On the evidence of the 1851
census, the child survived but Janet died less than three weeks later, possibly as a result of complications, as
commemorated on the family gravestone:
The birth of ‘Janet dagr. to Gavin Wiseman in Newton & Jean Eastin his spouse’, on 6th October
1805, was recorded in the Avondale Parish Register.
ERECTED BY
HUGH Mc.COLL, HOOKHEAD AVONDALE,
IN MEMORY OF
JANET WISEMAN, HIS WIFE
WHO DIED 8th MAY 1841, AGED 36 YEARS
An entry in the Avondale Parish Register, for May 1841, runs:
11 Janet Wiseman Spouse of Hugh McColl farmer in Hookhead Interred in the 1
The ‘11’ presumably signifies the date and the ‘1’ identifies the lair.
Maternal / maternal great-grandmother of Thomas Park
