According to the family gravestone, Isobella Park MS Scott died on 20^th May 1847, at Lugar, Ayrshire, aged 29, less than two months after giving birth to daughter Jean, also in Lugar; it was therefore either an extended stay or a return visit. The event was recorded in the Avondale Parish Register, in an entry dated 24^th May 1847:

Isobella Scott’s husband, Thomas Park, was entered as a widower at the time of the 1851 census.

Sister

Isobella had a sister, Jean, whose birth in 1822 was recorded in the Glassford (Lanarkshire) Parish Register:

Jean Daughter of Robert Scott Farmer in Stranhead by Jean Reid his wife born 28th October 1822.

The same event was registered by the Strathaven Associate Congregation but note the discrepency in dates:

Jean lawful daughter to Robert Scot born on the 24t Septr. and baptized on the 27t. October 1822
