Peter Watson, a clerk, bachelor, 35, resident at Willowbank, Strathaven, married
Helen McColl on 8th June 1921 in the Public Hall, Kirk Street,
Strathaven, After Banns according to the Forms of the Established Church of Scotland. The witnesses were James
Watson and Marion McColl.
On daughter Helen’s 1922 birth certificate, this information is substantially confirmed and Peter was again
designated as a clerk.
Peter Watson, of 2, Kirkland Park Avenue, Strathaven, acted as informant on the 1929 death certificate of his
father, James Watson.
He also acted as informant on the 1937 death certificate of his wife, Helen Watson MS McColl, on which occasion he was designated as a clerk.
He was designated as chief clerk Highways Department (retired) when his daughter Helen married
Leslie S. Baird in 1951.
Peter Watson, County Clerk (retired), widower of Helen Bryce McColl, died on 17th August 1963 at
0h 40m am at the County Hospital, Cleland. His usual residence was Avonholm, Strathaven. His
age was entered as 81. The causes of death were certified as general arterio sclerosis, cerebral thrombosis and
hypostatic-pneumonia. The informant on the same day was the deceased’s son-in-law, Leslie S. Baird.
Peter Watson was born on 24th November 1881 at 7h 40m am, at Boghall, Glassford.
The informant was the child’s father, James Watson.
