Helen McColl was born on 2^nd February 1885 at two in the morning, at Waterside St., Strathaven. The informant on 14^th February at Strathaven was John McColl, the child’s father, who was entered as present.

At the time of Helen’s marriage to Peter Watson in 1921, she was a spinster, aged 36, resident in Barn Street, Strathaven.

Helen Watson, married to Peter Watson, clerk, died on 24^th June 1937 at 3^h 45^m am, at 2, Kirkland Park Avenue, Strathaven. Her age was entered as 52. The causes of death were certified as chronic nephritis and cerebral haemorrhage, from which she had been suffering for one day. The informant on the same day at Strathaven was the deceased’s widower, Peter Watson.

Helen apparently had a middle name. She was recalled as Helen Bryce McColl on the 1963 death certificate of her widower, Peter Watson. She was named after her great-grandmother, Helen Moran MS Bryce.

Brothers & Sister

Helen McColl had a brother, Archibald K. (presumably Kyle) McColl, who acted as informant on the 1931 death certificate of their mother, Helen McColl MS Kyle. Sister Susan, born 1879, and brother George, born 1880, both in Strathaven, are known from the 1881 census.
