Archibald Kyle

On the evidence of his 1901 death certificate, Archibald Kyle was born c. 1824.

Archibald Kyle was a weaver in Strathaven when his daughter Helen was born in 1852.

Archibald Kyle was designated as a silk handloom weaver when his daughter Ellen or Helen married John McColl in 1878.

Archibald Kyle, a handloom weaver, married to Susan Moran, died on 11th April 1901 at 4h 15m am, at 15, Ladeside, Strathaven. His age was entered as 76. The causes of death were certified as old age, frailty and congestion of lungs, from which he had been suffering for fourteen days. The informant at Strathaven on the same day was the deceased’s son, James Kyle, entered as present, of Waterside Street, Strathaven.

Archibald Kyle was recalled as a weaver (deceased) on the 1912 death certificate of his daughter, Helen McColl MS Kyle.

Agnes Kyle, widow of James Kyle, silk & cotton handloom weaver, died on 3rd April 1865 at six in the evening, at Commercial Road, Strathaven. She was 71 years of age. The cause of death was certified as apoplexy, from which she had been suffering for two weeks. The informant on the following day at Strathaven was John Kyle, the deceased’s son, who was entered as present.
