John Leslie

John Leslie was the husband of Catharine Gordon. John and Catherine had three known children, baptised in Aberdeen. Jean, 1780:

August fourth, seventeen hundred & eighty years

Wife, had a Daughter born named Jean, baptized by
the Rev..d M.r John Skinnar Episcopal Minister, here,
Mefs.rs William Nicoll, Advocate, and Hugh
Gordon, Watch maker, both here, Witnefses.

John, August 1781:

Fourteenth

Mr John Leslie Mercht. & Mrs Catharine Gordon his
Spouse, had a Son born, named John; baptized by the
Revd. Mr Skinnar Episcopal Minister here in
presence of Mefsrs. Hugh Gordon, Watch-maker, &
William Nicoll, Advocate both in Aberdeen.

Elizabeth, 1783:

December 27.th1783. Mr John Leslie, Merchant,
and Mrs Catharine Gordon, his Wife, had a Daur. born
named Elizabeth; Baptized by the Rev.d Bishop Skin
-nar, Hugh Gordon, Watch-maker & James Hacket,
Shoe-maker, both here, Witnefses.

In connection with a bequest in favour of his widow, in the Last Will and Testament of Margaret Lindsay (née Gordon), subscribed on 29th June 1805 he was recalled as ‘the deceased Mr John Leslie late Merchant in Aberdeen’.
