Agnes Wallace Baird |
3rd August 1876 - ? |
Agnes appears, aged four, living in the family home in the 1881 census.
When Agnes Wallace Baird married John Tennant in 1898, she was a spinster,
aged 21, usually resident at Hillside, Hamilton.
After John died later that year, Agnes married again. Adam John Melrose, a farmer (bachelor), aged 33, usually
resident at ‘Kirkston’, Aberfoyle, married Agnes W. Baird (widow), aged 35, usually resident at 26, Belhaven
Terrace, Glasgow, on 6th June 1918, at 2, Sardinia Terace, Glasgow, After Banns according to the Forms of
the Established Church of Scotland.
According to family sources, the groom was familiarly known as Jack. His mother was Margaret Melrose MS Grieve. It
will be noticed that the bride’s age has been understated; she was in fact approaching her 42nd birthday.
The Register was signed by the Ministers of Bothwell and Aberfoyle, and by Matthew B. Baird and Joy G. Melrose,
witnesses.
Agnes Wallace Baird was born on 3rd August 1876 at 8h 30m, at Charleville,
Uddingston. The informant on 18th August at Bothwell was
M. B. Baird, the child’s father.
