At the time of her marriage to James Aulay King on 3rd
December 1886, Sarah Stewart was a printfield hand (spinster), aged 19, usually resident at 20, Lennox Street,
Renton.
Sarah King, married to James Aulay King, commercial clerk, died on 4th October 1896 at four in the
morning, at 20, Lennox Street, Renton, the home of her parents. Her usual address was 9, King Street, also Renton.
Her age was entered as 29. The cause of death was certified as phthisis pulmonalis, from which she had been
suffering for six months. The informant on the following day at Renton was James A. King, the deceased’s widower, of
9, King Street, Renton, entered as present.
Sarah Stewart was born on 15th October 1867 at seven in the morning, at Croy Row, Cumbernauld,
Dunbartonshire. The informant on 3rd November at Cumbernauld was the child’s father, William Stewart,
entered as present.

William Stewart married Margaret Pringle on 3rd June 1864 at Dalry, After Banns according to the Forms of
the Church of Scotland. William was an iron miner (bachelor), 21, usually resident at Newhouses, Dalry. Margaret,
who signed the Register with her X-mark, was a domestic servant (spinster), 24, usually resident at the Iron Work
Stables, Dalry. The Register was signed by Robert Stevenson, Minister of Dalry and by witnesses Elizabeth Pringle
and John Stuart.
When Sarah was born in 1867, William was designated as an ironstone miner. Her mother was entered as Margaret
Stewart MS Pringle.
At the time of her marriage to James Aulay King in 1886, and again when she died in 1896, Sarah Stewart’s parents
were identified as William Stewart, engine keeper, and Margaret Stewart MS Pringle. They both appear to have
survived her.

When William Stewart married Margaret Pringle in 1864, his parents were recalled as Henry Stewart, engine keeper, and Jane Stewart MS McIlroy, both deceased. Margaret’s parents were Robert Pringle, carter, and Margaret Pringle MS Brown (deceased).
