At the time of the 1841 census, Marion Waddell, 15, was living in the family home at Woodend, in the Parish of
Torpichen, Linlithgowshire.
The marriage of James Young and Marion Waddell was recorded on 2nd June 1850 in Bathgate:
Marion Waddell, third known daughter of James Waddell and
Marion Chalmers, was born in Linlithgowshire c. 1825.

The same event was recorded in Torpichen Parish, on the 4th:
Marion was named as beneficiary in her father’s 1853 Disposition and Settlement, in which connection she was
referred to as the ‘Spouse of James Young farmer in Capithall’.
Marion and James had at least one son, also James Young, who acted as informant on the 1884 death certificate of his
uncle, James Waddell.
