This brief communication discloses little information or discussion beyond the quest for suitable illustrations.
Inverness. 26 March 1893.
Dear Sir,
I have now got some proofs
of the photo-zincographic print of
Drum and send you one. I
think it is very satisfactory, and
gives a very good view of the old
place. It has not been reduced as much
as you intended, as I thought it
would make a frontispiece for
the book, and therefore requested
to have the plate only slightly
reduced.I am very much obliged to you
for trying to get some sketch of
Lesmoir for me – in case you might
not succeed I wrote to Mr Dunbar
Editor “Huntly Express”, asking whether
he knew of any photo. or sketch
that wd. be available – but though I
wrote on 9th currt & sent a postcard
on 20th I have no reply.I have asked two other parties to
make similar enquiries. I should
much like to get vignettes about
4¾ x 3¼ or so of Lesmoir and Craig :
but I think I can get a niece of
mine, who is quite willing to try, to
do the drawing, if I can get something
for her to copy.My account of the Irvines is now
nearly three fourths of it printed,
and I suppose the printing of
the Lesmoir Hist. will be com-
menced in 5 or 6 weeks – per-
haps sooner.I am
Yours very truly
Douglas Wimberley.
