Christian McAuslan

15th February 1823 - 23rd April 1896


The fourth (entered as third) child of James McAuslan and Christian Ritchie was Christian or Christina, born in 1823:

James McAslane Grocer Anderston & Christian Ritchie had their 3rd child born 15th Feby Bapd. 9th March named Christian. Daniel Ritchie & Walter Davie wit.

At the time of the 1841 census, Christina, a dressmaker, entered as aged 15, was living in the family home in Susannah Street, Alexandria.

In 1851, she was entered as a dressmaker, aged 27.

In 1861, she was a milliner and her age was entered very approximately as 31.

In 1871, she was still unmarried and living in the family home. She was entered as a milliner aged 45.

Christina McAslan, a milliner, single, died on 23rd April 1896 at four in the morning, at 175, Main Street, Alexandria. She was entered as 69 years of age (she was actually 73). The cause of death was certified as heart disease, from which she had been suffering for two years. The informant on the same day was Elizabeth McAslan, her sister, present.
