William Pinkerton |
1st September 1787 - 18?? |
William Pinkerton senior’s birth and baptism are recorded in the Abbey (Paisley) Parish Register for 1787:
William S. L. To Allan Pinkerton & Agnes Smylie born 1 Bapt 7 Septr – Pinkerton
William Pinkerton married Elizabeth Lata. The couple were ‘booked and
proclaimed in order to marriage’ at Abbey, Paisley, on 23rd January 1808. William was described as being
‘of this parish’, while his bride was ‘of Inshanan’.
According to William junior’s death certificate, William senior was a farmer.
In connection with the birth of a ‘son lawful’, Robert, on 25th August 1824 and baptised on the
12th (presumably in the following month), William Pinkerton’s address is given as ‘Boghead’. This is
rendered as ‘Bogside’ in connection with the birth of Robert Latta Pinkerton, a further ‘son lawful’, born
15th February 1826 and baptised on the 26th.
